Radvent, Day 4: Caring

What are other people taking care of?

I have to admit: the only person I was around today was Scott, and the only person Scott was around was me. We are going out later tonight, but for today, Scott's been working upstairs, and I've been downstairs doing chores. Yep, super exciting! But that's what I love about Sunday.

What's not important? What can we throw away?

I am not very good at this (yet) but here are some things that I definitely should not care about:
  • What other people are doing
  • What other people are doing in relation to me (comparisons)
  • What celebrities are doing at any given time
  • Whether or not I am "achieving enough" (life is a journey, not a destination)
  • Whether I am "good enough" in the eyes of others (fashionable enough, smart enough, etc)
These all follow a theme, and I'm honestly ashamed that I still struggle so much with these things at nearly 30 years old, but I do. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Every day I struggle not to care about these things, and instead to focus on my own path, and not judge myself or compare myself with others. It seems the universe has been out to make this as challenging as possible for me this year, but I have faith that I will come out the other side of it (likely next year) a stronger, better person.

Happy Sunday! Scott & I are going to a show tonight (Peter Murphy/She Wants Revenge), and tomorrow starts another week of work & shows. Have a lovely evening
